Longtime Alaska resident Cody J. Niessink, 30, died unexpectedly in his home on July 10, 2010.

A celebration of life will be Tuesday at Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E St. A public viewing is scheduled for 9-10 a.m., with a funeral at 10 a.m. Burial will be at noon at the Palmer Pioneers Cemetery.

Cody was born July 27, 1979, in Lynden, Wash.

He moved to Anchorage in 1988. He graduated from East High School in 1997. Cody attended the University of Alaska Anchorage and pursued a degree in criminal justice. He worked for Trans America Glass and also worked for Trident Casing Services in Wyoming as a casing inspector.

Cody was a caring, loving son, sibling and boyfriend. He loved every sport around, but baseball was his passion. He was very outspoken, which never left you wondering how he felt. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping with his family and friends.

Cody is survived by his fiance, Heather Temple; daughter, Rori Temple; grandmother, Anna Mae Korselman; parents, Robert and Sharon Niessink; sister, Amy Elmore and her husband Tom and daughter Megan; brothers, Shannon Niessink, Chris Niessink, Matt Niessink and his wife Bobbie Anne and their children Madisyn and Gaige, Josh Niessink and his wife Lindsey, and Jordan Niessink and his daughter Tara.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ben Korselman and Charles and Minnie Niessink.
