Born to the parents of Oscar and L.E. Alexander of Waller, Texas, he attended Prairie View Training School and played both basketball and football; graduated from Prairie View Training School in the Class of 1954 & enlisted to serve his country in the United States Navy. During his service in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1962, he was a Navy cook and served his country honorably. Upon receiving honorable discharge in 1962, later worked as a security officer for Prairie View A&M University's Campus Police Department; worked as Gulf Coast Franchise Operator, and entrepreneur; he was a member of the Waller County Wreckers Association; Masonic Lodge and the Hempstead/Prairie View Lions Club. Proceeded in death by both parents and one son, Holly V. Alexander Survived by his wife of 42 years, Orelia Alexander of Waller, Texas; six sons: Romeo Alexander Jr., of Waller, Texas; Wilford Alexander of Anchorage, Alaska; Daniel Alexander (Theresa) of Waller, Texas; Anthony Alexander (Betty Jo) of San Jose, California; Nathaniel Alexander (Lauren) of Waller, Texas, and Jason Alexander (Mayra) of Waller, Texas. Three daughters: Olivia Birdow (Darryl) of Waller, Texas; Helaine Guillory of Hockley, Texas and Sharon Alexander of Waller, Texas including multiple host of grandchildren: Christopher Davis, Jason Alexander, Larissa Alexander, Mark Guillory, Jr., Krystyna Guillory, Shaquitra Birdow, Jonathan Alexander, Benjamin Gage, Nicholas Nelson, Briana Gage and Tiana Alexander . Brothers and sisters: Carl R. Alexander, Sr., (Helen) Ernest Alexander (Becky) Princess Maria Alexander, J.W. Alexander (Homizelle), Oscar Alexander, Jr., (Alice) and Beenie Lewis including host of nephews, nieces, numerous relatives, and family friends. Visitation was on Friday, December 11, 1998 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Thomas Bailey Memorial Church of God In Christ, 3004 Sledge Street in Waller, Texas 77484. Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 12, 1998 at the Thomas Bailey Memorial Church of God In Christ at 11:00am officiated by Elder Alan Abney and Supt. Harold Tisdell was the eulogist followed by graveside services at Hockley Community Cemetery in Hockley, Texas. The repast was held at Waller Baptist Church in Waller, Texas. Arrangements handled by Singleton and Sons Funeral Home, 627 New Orleans Street, Hempstead, Texas 77445.
