Deceased Name: Cystic Fibrosis Claims Tulsan Christopher Boyd

Christopher Boyd said he wanted to finish college, get a job and live to 30.

Saturday Boyd died after a lifelong battle with cystic fibrosis.

Unlike most cystic fibrosis patients who never reach adulthood, Boyd lived to be 35.

The disease, which is incurable and always fatal, causes thick, sticky mucus to clog the lungs and airways, creating breathing problems and an ideal environment for infection.

Boyd graduated from the University of Tulsa in 1981 with a degree in advertising and public relations. He worked in sales at Sooner Pipe and Supply.

He was active in the choir at Immanuel Lutheran Church and a member of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Boyd; his parents, Tom and Jean Boyd of Bartlesville; one sister, Dana Boyd of
Atlanta, and one brother, John Boyd of Oklahoma City.

Services for Boyd will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Broken Arrow under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home.
