Although his name is often written as 'Gabriel Laurent', it is listed as 'Gabriel Laurens' on his baptismal record. He was baptized on 26 October 1696 at Notre Dame in Le Havre.

He married Anne Françoise Roland on 20 February 1730 at Saint Louis Church in New Orleans.

Gabriel and Anne Françoise had two known children: Nicolas and Antoine.

The date and place of Gabriel's death and burial is unknown. It is believed that Gabriel's son with Anne Françoise Roland, Antoine, was likely born in early 1732 - right after the 1732 census was taken - which would indicate that Gabriel was still alive by April/May 1731. There is also speculation that Gabriel had gone to Natchez for a short time - likely in his capacity as an employee of the Company of the Indies. This is based on a burial record which is found in the sacramental records of New Orleans indicating that a male Bordelon child was buried on 18 December 1732. The burial record (which is not easy to read and does not appear to contain the name of the mother), does appear to say "belonging to Sr. Bordelon garde major at Natchez". It also seems to indicate that the child was baptized shortly before burial due to threat of death. Since Gabriel is the only Bordelon known to have been in French Louisiana at this time, it would appear that this was his child and that Anne Françoise Roland was the mother of the child. Assuming that this is accurate, he would have still been alive in March/April 1732.
