"MILDRED 'Millie' Pearl Ellis
March 16, 1932 - December 5, 2002
SUBLIMITY -- Millie went home to be with her lord while surrounded by her family on Thursday, December 5, 2002. She was 70.
Millie was born and raised in Salem, where she lived and raised her family until July 2001 when she moved into Marian Estates in Sublimity, Ore. She was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary#2081 for 52 years. Her "career" with the Eagles consisted of being Past Madam President in 1958, 1994 and 2000, Drill Team member for many years, trophies for competition at State Convention, being State Musician, Mother of the Year in 1989, and Chairing many charity projects including D.A.R.E. and The Diabetes Foundation. She loved donating her time and skills to teach ballroom dancing at the Eagles and the Salem Area Senior Center. She loved spending her time lovingly crocheting tablecloths for family and friends, playing steel guitar and the piano.
Millie was preceded in death by her husband, William Arthur Ellis on May 13, 1985. Survivors include her daughter, Chris Marie Bales (and husband George) of Turner, Ore; son, Robert Allen Ellis (and wife Marcy) of Keizer, Ore.; daughter, Jo Ella Jennings (and husband Jerry) of Salem, Ore; son, Jerry William Ellis (and wife Aniqua) of Salem, Ore; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Diabetes Foundation, Oregon affiliates, 380 SE Spokane St., Suite 110, Portland, OR 97202. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 11, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service. Private Interment will be at Belcrest Memorial Park.
