Our wise and beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend, passed away September 8, 2000.
We will deeply miss his sense of humor and wisdom. Darrell had a great love for nature's beauty and had a beautiful yard and garden. He loved spending time looking at the latest blooms in the gar-den,
and sharing tomatoes with neigh-bors. He was a wonderful cook and loved cooking large meals and creating new dishes for his family. There was always room at the table for one more. Darrell was an exceptional speaker and teacher and lifted the hearts of family and friends. His sudden departure has left a void for all who knew and loved him.
Darrell was born Sept 20, 1938, in Weston, ID to Verlan and Sylva (Taylor) Schvaneveldt. He grew up on a farm and as a young boy learned the value of a hard day's work done well. He served an LDS mission in the Netherlands in 1958. While on his mission Darrell met his future eternal companion, Carole Fuhriman. They were married in the Logan LDS Temple June 20, 1963. Darrell graduated from the University of Utah in 1964 and acquired his CPA license. Darrell managed a successful accounting practice, Schvaneveldt & Company, and enjoyed a wonderful relationship with his clients.
As a young man he served in the Bishopric and as the Bishop of the Rosedale LDS Ward in Rose Park. God knew his own in Darrell, who was a compassionate Bishop that touched the lives of many. His service and friendship to Ward members continued long after Darrell left Rose Park and moved to Bountiful.
Darrell and Carole have been blessed with six children and eight grandchildren who love their father and grandpa very much. Darrell found endless joy spending time with his grandchildren and sharing in their accomplishments.
He is survived by his wife, Carole, and children, Laura Hadley, Mike, Stacy (Mark) Hadley, Kathy (Mike) Shappart, Gary and Steven; grandchildren, Blake, Kody, Tony, Dylan, Josh, Taylor, Meghan and Alex; mother, Sylva Bernklau, who he loves dearly and admires her strength in the face of adversity; sister, Linda (Lynn) Johnson; brother, Clifford (Bonnie); and many nephews and nieces. Darrell was preceded in death by his father Verlan and his sister Ada Gail.
The family would like to thank the medical staff at the University of Utah, the Davis County Paramedics, Bountiful City Fire/Am-bulance, neighbors and friends for all their wonderful support especially Craig Wallace, Lindsay Holt and Ashley Wilde.
Friends may call Tuesday, Sept 12th, 6-8 p.m., the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main, or Wednesday the 13th, at the Oakhills LDS Ward Chapel 10-11 a.m., 455 S. 1200 E, followed by funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Interment, Lakeview Cemetery, Bountiful, UT.
