Lovina Muckenhirn 1923 - 2010
Lovina Muckenhirn, 86, died peacefully July 2, 2010, surrounded by loved ones.
Born Lovina Jane Funk on Oct. 23, 1923 in Denver, Colo., she was the sixth of 10 children born to Gladys and James Funk.
Raised in Colorado, Montana and Washington, when she graduated from high school she moved to Southern California.
During World War II she worked as a welder and riveter in the shipyards and the defense industry. She eventually went to work at National Can Corporation and retired after 35 years.
In 1992 she moved to Payson, where she lived happily for 18 years. She and her husband Keith were members of the Tonto Travelers and had visited 47 states; they also enjoyed bowling, dancing and music.
Mrs. Muckenhirn was a talented seamstress, and enjoyed all needlecrafts including knitting, crocheting, needlepoint and quilting. She was an excellent cook and loved gardening.
She was preceded in death by six siblings and her son, Stanley Keith Hartley. She is survived by her grieving husband, Keith Wilson of Payson; siblings, Julia Marker, Arnold Funk and Edward Funk of Montana; son, James Ora Hartley of Desert Hot Springs, Calif.; daughter, Deborah Lynn Foster (William) of Coon Rapids, Minn.; grandchildren, Stanley James Hartley of Costa Mesa, Calif., Wesley Jay Foster of Zimmerman, Minn., Kimberly Ann Hartley Gorham of Costa Mesa, Calif. and Ryan Keith Foster of Zimmerman, Minn.; and great-grandchildren Joshua, Devon, Summer, Taylor, Ethan, Madison, Noah and Connor.
Memorial prayer services were privately held, and Mrs. Muckenhirn will be buried with her parents in Kingman, Ariz.
