Sallie Darine Easterling Rogers died Saturday, July 10, 2010. She was born November 20, 1915 in Choudrant, LA to the late Joe Richard Easterling and Annie Elizabeth Pigg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her spouse of 54 years, Jesse Joshua Rogers; daughter, Richelene Rogers; step-father, Walter Howard; brother, Henry Easterling; two sisters, Voyle Bright and Walterine Caples; nephews, Ealston Bright and Jerry Easterling.
Mother was truly devoted to her family and friends and never missed an opportunity to do something for them. She spent the greater part of her life in West Monroe where she raised her children and devoted herself to being a loving wife and mother. In her later years, she found much joy becoming a grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, ceramics, shopping for antiques and working in her yard caring for flowers and vegetable gardens.
Mamaw was a devoted Christian her whole life. She was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church in West Monroe, but at the present was a member of First Baptist Church of West Monroe.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, B.J. Dunaway, Glenda Wilhite and husband Jamie, Melba Smith; son, Larry J. Rogers and wife, Martha all of West Monroe, LA; ten grandchildren, Shane Debnam, Jay Debnam, Todd Debnam, Damon Wilhite, Josh Rogers, Traci Butler, Tamecia Frost, Brandi Soignier, Jennifer Rogers, and Jessica Wyatt; and blessed with 15 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Ian, Graham, Cody, Jesse, Dakota, Major, Tripp, Emily, Mallory, Maci, Reese, Addison, Adalyn, and Mackenzie; sister, Jo Howard of Lena, MS; sister-in-law, Judy Bennett of West Monroe, LA and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be Shane Debnam, Jay Debnam, Todd Debnam, Matthew Debnam, Damon Wilhite, and Josh Rogers.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
In remembrance of our mother, our family requests memorial be made in lieu of flowers to: First West Prison Ministry, First Baptist Church, 500 Pine Street, West Monroe, LA 71291.
