Kirsten was a work colleague and a friend. She past away on 21st June 2010 following a relatively short battle with cancer. The really sad thing was that Kirsten had a baby girl one year before. She named her Emily. Kirsten also left a great husband, they had only been married a few short years.
This lady was a rock and took her destiny with both hands and lived every day to the full. She knew she was dying but that did not stop her. During her spare time she organised her own funeral right down to her pink casket (YES PINK!!). Pink was her colour.
Kirsten and I worked together as Ambulance Officers for St John here in Auckland, New Zealand. Whenever I did work with her you could guarantee a 'big' day. I say that because she ALWAYS attracted very seriously ill patients. Here is an example, in one day we did 3 cardiac arrests and we got back two of the patients.
I will miss her bouncy, bubbly personality. I could always expect a big hug and kiss on the cheek whenever I met up with her. When she made Paramedic she went to another watch so I was left with texting and calling her.
God bless you my friend and I look forward to seeing you again, in another place which is filled with joy and happiness. I will never forget you. Be at rest.
