Ada May Stewart Cooper Massey, 79, passed away Jan. 18, 2000. She was born May 19, 1920 to Lloyd and Ida Woodward Stewart of Jensen. She was the youngest of seven children.

She married Grant Cooper in March of 1938. They had two children, Cheryl Cooper (Grant) Richens and Stewart (Marketa) Cooper, both of Vernal. Grant passed away on Feb. 5, 1955. May married Earl Massey in December of 1957.

During her 79 years, May apprenticed as a beautician and has given hundreds of haircuts and perms to family members and close friends. She also worked at Uintah Freight for Rondo Sullivan, and for Dr. John Shimmin as a dental assistant. After leaving Dr. Shimmin's employ, she went to Henegar's Business College and then worked many years for Drs. Bruce Christian and Durrell Chivers.

May was always a wonderful seamstress. She made everything from blouses and skirts to tailored suits and a traditional wedding dress for her oldest grand-daughter. She was an avid reader, loved to travel, loved games, crossword puzzles, solitaire and working in her flowers. She grew some of the most beautiful roses in the valley. She enjoyed family gatherings and also liked spending time on the mountain at their cabin. She was an excellent cook and homemaker and kept a neat clean home throughout her life.
