Phyllis was a graduate of Arlington High School, and New Paltz Normal School, where she received a degree in education. She was employed at IBM in Poughkeepsie for over 25 years, and worked on the Stretch/Harvest megacomputer team in the early 1960's. In the early 1970's she retired from IBM and relocated to Boca Raton, Florida. Phyllis worked for Gould Electronics in Plantation, Florida, retiring from Gould in 1984. Three years ago she moved to The Crossings Retirement Community in Lake Worth, Florida.
Phyllis was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Delray Beach, Florida, and sang in the church choir. In addition to her love of music, she enjoyed travel, genealogy and history, and caring for her pets. Phyllis is survived by nephews Robert Singleton of Highland NY, Richard Singleton of Carmel NY, and Lois Singleton Balz of Tennessee; and cousins in the United States and Great Britain. A memorial service was held on August 6, 2006 at The Crossings in Lake Worth, Florida.
