Merle Jeanette Patterson, 89, of Allensville, passed away Monday, March 29, 2010 at Jenkins Memorial Health Facility in Wellston. She was born February 17, 1921 in Vales Mills, Vinton County, Ohio, a daughter of the late Calvin Everett and Bessie Ann Bond Gregory. Merle was the widow of the late Elmer Dwane Patterson.
She was a retired post mistress in Allensville, a member of Log Pile Church of Christ in Christian Union, the Vinton County Senior Citizens Center, RSVP, Good Cheer Club and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary #5299.
Merle is survived by 3 sons, Dwane "Ed" (Verna) Patterson of Beaver, William Oren (Carolyn) Patterson of Waverly and James Everett (Connie) Patterson of Londonderry; 2 daughters, Rebecca Lee (James Israel) Cartwright of Ray and Betty Mae Thomas of Allensville; 19 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Susan Deanne Patterson in 1947; a great grandson, Reagan Alexander Cartwright; 3 brothers, Howard, Robert and William "Bill" Gregory and 2 sisters, Ethel Tripp and Oma Graves and 4 infant brothers.
Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur on Wednesday, from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. Funeral services was held 11 A.M., Thursday, April 1, 2010 at the funeral home with Rev. Jim McFadden and Rev. Billy "Butch" Cooper officiating. Interment was in Bell Cemetery
