The following was written by Mayme Grace (White) Grant, daughter of Bramblett Calloway White. These words were shared with me by Jane Rea (White) Williams, grand daughter of Bram White.

"In 1883 or 1884 my father, Bran C. White left his home in Kentucky after his mother passed away and the family was broken up by death and marriage. The oldest of the family, Melvin, went south to North Carolina where he worked and self -educated himself so that he was able to teach as a vocation. He met his future wife, Mary Jane, in North Carolina and lived on a small farm where they raised a family of six. They were Willie, Lucien, Bob, Virginia, Doss, and Eugene.

My father Bram C. White, was the next oldest of this family and as I have written earlier, came to Missouri as a very young man and went to work for a Mr, Simpson who also had emigrated from Kentucky earlier. My dad worked on the farm for a few years, met his future wife and on February 17, l887, was married. They lived for about three years on the farm in Bingham vicinity owned by Oliver Rosenbury, now owned by Shorty Hilton. About the year 1890 he bought 160 acres 1 1/2 miles south of Mandeville from Dan Long. This is the farm where we of the White family were born and reared. This farm was owned by the Whites until the late thirties.

I, Mayme Grace White, lived continuously on this farm until 1920. I was married to Louis Edward Grant on March 27, 1920 and lived on the farm of my Uncle Henry Lyon. This farm joined my father's land. He lived there until February 1921. We moved to the home place on February 21, 1921 after my father and step mother moved to Bogard where they had bought a home."
