Red is survived by two daughters, Clara Annette Anderson and husband Carl of Downing, MO and Jean Kirkpatrick and husband Kenny of La Plata, MO; nine grandchildren, Bill Anderson and wife Angie, Robert Anderson and wife Vickie, Tristan Borron, Emily Kirkpatrick, Halley Kirkpatrick, Katey Kirkpatrick, Tode Anderson, Branden Cantial and Jennifer Cantial and one sister, Wilma Hiles of Kirksville. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one grandchild, William Samuel Jackson, two sisters, Maxine Bellmyer and Mary Noll.
Red was reared west of La Plata where he attended rural schools and graduated from the La Plata High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII from June 24, 1944 to January 18, 1946. He had been employed as a heavy equipment operator and foreman, constructing pipe line all across the United States. He love to work and retired because of his failing health. He loved his family, farming, horses and enjoyed watching Football.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (September 16, 2009) at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend John Bowling officiating. Musical selections will be "Daddy's Hands", "When I Get Where I Am Going" and "In the Garden". Interment with Military Rites will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Jacksonville, MO. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Redmon, Greg Love, Jason Redmon, Jason Bunch, Gail Curtis and Bill Reese.
Visitation will be after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday (September 15, 2009) with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home 2100 E. Shepherd Ave. Kirksville, MO 63501 660-665-2233
