She was the first-born child of Levi and Cornelia (Knapp) Allen. Some time after 1900 and before 1911, she and her mother went to live with her sister's widower, Jacob Dorsey Forrest, in Irvington (Indianapolis area), Indiana. Her mother passed away on September 21, 1911. To keep a sense of propriety about them and retain the same residence, she and Jacob married on September 23, 1911 in Summit County, Ohio.

During her marriage, she went by the name Cornelia Allen-Forrest. At that time, she taught at Butler College (now University) in Indianapolis, and became the head of the English Department. The Butler Alumni Quarterly published in April 1914 held several details about Founder's Day at the College that year. "... it was deemed proper for this college to pay tribute to [Mr. Ovid Butler's] life and memory, upon his birthday, February 7. Thus has grown the day we love to honor." Various events took place on campus and at the homes of faculty. Cornelia's part:

"At the residence of Mrs. Cornelia Allen-Forrest occurred from 2:30 to 4:30 the Pan-Hellenic reception, given by the various Greek-letter societies, to the students, alumni and friends of the college. There was a large attendance and a delightful spirit of enjoyment permeated the rooms. More and more is the community approving and appreciating these functions."

In November 1914, she and Jacob had their marriage annulled. They had never truly been a couple but had only wanted to remain at the same residence until Cornelia had someplace to move on to. In 1915 Jacob was united in marriage with Cordelia Kautz, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Kautz, Kokomo, Indiana.

On July 7, 1917 Cornelia married Dr. Francis Spivakowky in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. His place of residence at the time was New York City. Hers was Cleveland, Ohio. He had immigrated from Russia in 1905 and became a naturalized citizen in 1909. By 1920, they settled in Yonkers, Westchester County, New York, where he worked as a chiropractor.

By 1930, they had moved to Rockport, Essex County, Massachusetts, and he had developed a career in real estate. In both the 1920 and 1930 census records, Cornelia is listed simply as wife with no occupation.

She and Francis are buried here, in Akron, Ohio, in her Allen family plot. They died within 2 months and 7 days of each other.
