Charles ‘Charlie' Clayton Ward

Charles "Charlie" Clayton Ward, 47, of Hix, formerly of Elkton, Md., died Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at his home.

Born December 28, 1962, at Hix, he was a son of Ralph and Patricia Carte Ward of Elkton.

He was of the Baptist faith and was employed 20 years as a truck driver for Home Waste in Elkton. Charlie was a very plain and simple person who enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on the farm and spending time with his family.

Preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Edward Ward.

Besides his parents those left to cherish his memory include three children, Crystal Arlene Ward and fiancé Steven Loften, Matthew Clayton Ward and Rebecca Alease Ward all of Elkton; two grandchildren, Ashley Marie Loften and Bryce Adien Curry all of Elkton; one brother, Timothy Wayne Ward and fiancée Karen of Elkton; four sisters, Deborah Lynn Griggs and husband Joe of Pollocksville, N.C., Linda Faye Ward of Northeast, Md., Retha Ann Ward of Earlville, Md., and Teresa Kay Seyler and husband Brian of Elkton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 2010, at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Ray "Buck" Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow in the Friend Ward Cemetery at Hix. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Saturday, at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors.

Brian Seyler, T.J. Ward, William Ward, Doug Ward, Tommy Biggs and Charlie Dacey will serve as pallbearers.
