Thomas was known to many as Tom. He grew up in Garden Grove, California and graduated from Bolsa Grande High School (1973).

Tom worked 20 years for Yellow Freight, as a driver and had tons of friends from working at Yellow. He was a longtime devoted union member of the Teamsters (Local 952), and a second generation Elk Member (BPOE, Lodge #1952).

He was first married to Kelly Lynn Kitchel in 1978 and divorced in 1989/90. He found a new love, Constance (Connie) Gregg, and remarried in 1993.

Tom passed away in February of 1998 after a short, four month battle with lung & brain cancer.

He was survived by his wife, Connie Donovan; parents Walt & Diane Donovan; children Thomas (Tommy), Shawn & Breana Donovan; four stepchildren Matt, Phillip, Aimee & Veronica Gregg; brother Walt Donovan (Vicki) of Chandler, Arizona; sister Victoria Basque (Robert) of St. George, Utah. In addition he had several nieces and nephews, countless in-laws and a bevy of life long friends.

Subsequent in passing came a grandchild, Isaiah Thomas Briceno (Breana) in 2007, and a daughter-in-law Lah Donovan (Shawn) in 2010. Shawn and Lah are expecting their first child at the beginning of 2013, Jacob Nyaj Donovan.
