Marie Sofia Olofsdotter and her husband Carl Johan Andersson, along with and Mr. Anderson's sister, Lisa Greta Nelson, and her husband, Carl Oscar Nelson, immigrated to America from Sweden in 1869 and settled in Munterville, Iowa, where Mr. Anderson and Mrs. Nelson had another sister living. They lived there until 1875 when they left Wapelo Co. Both families came by wagon to Lost Grove township in Webster County, Iowa. It's been told they slept three abreast on the floor of the wagon. The Andersons had seven children and the Nelsons had three.
For some unknown reason they stopped at a farm house north of Harcourt (the place is now known as the Francis Carlson home). Here they stayed for three or four months.
Maria and Carl's family moved to a place across the road west of the Danielson school. Their children were Clara, Kristine Sofia, Anders Johan, Louisa Matilda, Carl Elof, Sven August, and Oscar Emil.
On August 13, 1879, Carl J. Anderson purchased the farm north of Harcourt from Georgieanne Barnes. Mr. and Mrs. Orin Johnson now live there. They built a house and moved there in 1879.
In 1892, Oscar Emil Anderson married Hilma Kristine Johnson. They had three children — Alice (Sandgren) of Gowrie, Elmer (deceased), Blanche (Johnson) of Harcourt.
On Oct. 11, 1899, Emil purchased the farm from the Carl J. Anderson estate.
Emil was born in Munterville, Iowa on Dec. 3, 1869, and died May 9, 1919.

His wife, Caroline Charlotte, was born in Kalmar Lan, Sweden on April 14, 1860, and died at Harcourt on Dec. 2, 1936. She came to America in 1881. They were charter members of the Harcourt Lutheran church. They had seven children — Aaron Edward who passed away at the age of 10 years, George, Esther (Mrs. Walter Engquist), Edna (Mrs. Harry Chalgren), Gilbert, Arthur, and Clemens.
Kristine Anderson Davis and her three daughters — Selma, Clara, and Edith — lived in Harcourt for several years. She later married George Sykes and they moved to Boone, Iowa.
Louise Anderson married Ed Valentine. They lived in Harcourt for several years. Later they moved to California with their family — Ray, Inza, and Stella.
Elof Anderson was born in Sweden. His wife, Mathilda Adamson Anderson, was born in Dayton, Iowa. They lived in Harcourt where he had a restaurant. They later moved to Fort Dodge to make their home. Their children were Myrtle, Daisy Rose (Mrs. Emery Stalhe), Ruth (Mrs. George Holberg), Frantz, Ernest, Donald Octavius, Ralph, and Stanley.
Sven August Anderson lived in the Harcourt community and was drowned in the Des Moines river when a young man.
