Aaron was the son of Joseph Brechner and his wife, Judith Baer. He was born on April 23, 1844 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. Aaron was one of 8 children born to the couple. Aaron had 3 brothers, John, William Henry and James Israel. He also had 4 sisters. Their names were Sophia, Caroline, Elizabeth, and Rosann.

Aaron married Kate Canfield in about 1873. Any children born to the couple are unknown.

In the 1880 cnesus, Aaron is a farmer in Rawlins County, Kansas. They are listed in the 1900 census in Jennings, Calcsia Parish, Louisiana, where Aaron was a well borer.
Aaron and Kate also had two boarders living with them, Mr. Lebarr and Mr. Joseph Feast.

U.S Civil War Soldier Records and Profiles shows that Aaron was living in Black Hawk County, Iowa when he enlisted in the Army on September 24, 1862. He was a Private in the 31st Infantry Regiment, Company B, from Iowa. The Regiment had been formed just prior to Aaron's enlistment. His brother John enlisted at the same time Aaron did. They were in the same Regiment.

Those were: Dec. 28, 1862 and Dec. 31, at Vicksburg, Mississippi; May 12-15, 1863, Mile Creek, Mississippi; May 21, 1863, Walnut Hills, Mississippi; June 25-26, 1863, also in Walnut Hills; Nov. 1, 1863, Iuka, Mississippi; Nov 24, 1863 at Ringgold, Georgia; Jun 16, 1864 at Big Shanty, Georgia; July 2, 1864 at Kenesaw Mountain, Georgia; July 21, 1864 at Roswell, Georgia and Feb 5, 1865 at Babbin's plantation, South Carolina.

Aaron was mustered out on June 27, 1865 in Louisville, Kentucky. After the war, Aaron lived in Waterloo, Black Hawk County, Iowa, where he farmed.

Kate passed away in 1903. On October 20, 1904, Aaron married for the second time. The bride's name was Etta Poffinborger (Poffinbarger, etc.) The wedding took place in Waverly, Bremer County, Iowa.

On April 10, 1912, Aaron passed away. He was buried with his first wife, Kate.
