* served in eight major campaigns across Europe including Omaha Beach, Rhine River Crossing, St. Lowe, the Battle of the Bulge, the Siegfried Line, and Bastogne, and received five battle stars, a Purple Heart, and numerous other awards for his service

* charter member and former director of the Societa Ragusa Americana

* preceded in death by his infant granddaughter, brother William, sister Lee, sister-in-law Rose, brothers-in-law Jack and Joe, and nephew Mark

It is very likely that Frank Mendolia was in 198th Infantry Regiment, 206th Infantry Battalion AAA, Alaskan Defense Command. After the Battle of Attu, reassigned to the 53rd Replacement Battalion, then onto Co. C, 38th Armored Infantry Battalion, 7th Armored Division.
