He died at his home on Spring St. April 13, 1913, aged 82 yrs. He came to Ripon in 1862 from Giessen, near Callies, Germany; is shown in the Ripon Directory 1868-1869 as a blacksmith, residing on the east side of Spring St. and the first door north of Fond du Lac St.; also in the Ripon Directory of 1876 as married with nine in his family, and two outside members, residing on the east side of Spring St., of German nationality, a moulder. Six children survived him, among whom were the divorced wife of Gustav Kohl of Ripon, Charles, and an unmarried daughter Emilie, at home.
