Bill was the son of William and Madelyn (Helfrich) Murd. He married Rita Storehalder on May 18, 1957, and they enjoyed 53 years together before her death in 2011. He was a lifelong active member of St. Elizabeth and Holy Trinity Parish, the Joseph W. Diehn Post 468, and the Catholic War Veterans in Assumption, Ohio. He was a Korean War veteran serving in the 82nd Airborne division from 1953 until 1955. Bill worked for E.I. DuPont for 42 years, retiring in 1993.

After retirement, Bill enjoyed volunteering at St. Anne’s hospital. In 2006, The Red Cross awarded him a certificate honoring his 116 pints of blood donated through the years. He took great pride in caring for the home he built in Berkey, OH, in1965 and he lived there for over 53 years. However, his greatest pride was his family.

Bill passed away at Ebeid Hospice Center in Sylvania, OH, surrounded by his family. He was survived by his children, Catherine (Peter) Nolan, Ronald (Tonya), Karen (Brian) Seeger, and Kenneth (Cheryl); grandchildren, Curt (Maryann) Nolan, Rob Murd, Alexis Seeger, Brad (Maggie) Seeger, Kiley (Dakota) Bick, Andy (Megan) Nolan, and Kendra Murd, and great-grandson, Connor Nolan. He was also survived by his sister, Bernadette Inderrieden; brothers, Romaine, Jerome (Donna), Fr. Frank; and sister-in-law, Charlotte Murd. He was preceded in death by his wife; brothers, Donald and Karl; and brother-in law, Ron Inderrieden.

Visitation, including a Scripture Service, was held on November 28th at the Reeb Funeral Home in Sylvania. The funeral Mass was offered the following morning by Fr. Frank Murd and Fr. Tom Helfrich at Holy Trinity Immaculate Conception Church, Berkey.
