CHARLES CHARLSON DIES FRIDAY

Charles John Charlson, 84 Rt. 4, Valparaiso, passed away Friday morning, Feb 20 1953, in his home near Crocker after an extended illness.
Mr. Charlson was born July 14, 1868, in Hobart, the son of Carl and Anna Sophia Charlson. He married Hulda Peterson in Valparaiso May 1, 1902
He was a caretaker for the Consumers Co., at Dunes Park for 45 years before retiring 13 years ago.
He was a member of the Augsburg Lutheran church, Porter.
Surviving are his widow, Hulda; two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Smith of Elkhart and Mr. Dorothy Jentzen of Michigan City; four sons, Howard of Valparaiso, Leonard of Chesterton, Norman of LaPorte and Marvin of Robbins Rd, Portage, with whom he made his home, 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A son, Theodore and a daughter, Violet, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, in the Augsburg Lutheran church with Rev. Carl I. Fant officiating. Burial was in the Burstrom cemetery. Flynn-Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.........(From the Chesterton Tribune, Feb 26, 1953)
