Clara H. Adams, 84, of Tallahassee, Fla., died peacefully Friday, May 21, 2010. She was born on December 4, 1925, in Kissimmee, Fla., to William and Minnie Mae Henderson. Clara was one of 13 brothers and sisters and is predeceased by all of them. The love of her life, Karl Adams, predeceased her in 1999.

Clara worked for Leon Federal starting in 1951.

Under the direction and guidance of Neil Kirkman, they created the Department of Highway Safety Credit Union. The building was named after Clara in 1980, and this was always a great source of pride for her.

In 1966, she retired after merging the Department of Highway Safety Credit Union with Motor Vehicles and created the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles Credit Union, which at this time was a multimillion dollar institution.

She was an active member of the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, (Pink Ladies), where she served as their treasurer for eight years. She was a Tallahassee Elkett and she and her husband Karl were very active in the Lions Club for years. Clara is survived by her daughters, Karla and Patricia.

She was greatly loved by her family and friends and will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She grieved so much for her husband, Karl, that it is wonderful to think of them being together again.
