Mildred I. Coy, 94 of Columbus, KS passed away Sunday June 6, 2010 at Medicalodges of Columbus.

Mildred was born August 16, 1915 in Cherokee County, KS, the daughter of William Grant and Sarah "Lizzie" (Dickson) North.

She graduated from the Columbus High School in 1932 and married William Edward Coy on May 30, 1936.

The couple lived in Chetopa and moved to Columbus in 1944.

She worked at Maude-Norton Hospital for 15 years retiring in 1981.

Mildred was a member of the First Christian Church, the Mayflower Club, and the Lend-a-Hand Club. Mildred enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading, the newspaper puzzles and watching the Cardinals' baseball games.

She was preceded by her husband on June 3, 1982; two granddaughters, Krystal Parsons and Sheri Jarrett; five great-grandchildren twins, Samual and Kevin Parsons, Emersyn Smith, Ashley Morris and Faith Ann Marie Coy; four brothers, Claudius, Herbert, Walter and Earl (North); three sisters, Mae Peters, Pearl Elliott, and Ella Rummer.

Survivors include five daughters, Joyce Coy of Columbus, Shirley Forkner of Columbus, Carol Brown of Nixa, MO, Mary Otto and Tom of Cherokee, and Brenda Overman and Tim of Topeka; six sons, Richard Coy of Columbus, Gary Coy of Collinsville, OK, Larry Coy of Columbus, Dale Coy and Barbara of Lake Dallas, TX, Kenneth Coy and Vickie of Columbus and Ronald Coy and Terri of Lago Vista, TX; twenty grandchildren and thirty-seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10 am Thursday June 10, 2010 at the Murdock Funeral Chapel with Pastor Roger Beason and Rev. Dennis Johnson officiating.

Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery near Melrose.

Visitation will be 7-8 Wednesday evening.
