Killed instantly in automobile crash at corner of Calla Road and Struthers Road. He died as an innocent victim of a high speed police chase that began on Route 224 in Poland Twp when Poland Two police chased a 17 year old driver east on Rt. 224 to Struthers Road then south crashing all stop signs until he met broadside with Richard Yereb's VW truck.

Richard Yereb left a wife and a daughter who's story is another tragedy as she had been recently hit by a car in front of her rural home Raccoon Rd in Canfield Two and left in a coma.
She never walked again.

Richard was restoring an old farmhouse owned by the Kyle family at the time of his death. Everything haulted.

Several prominent Canfield members (Atty Johnston and others) took up the task of finishing the work on the farmhouse so life could go on for his surviving family.

Believe Poland Two police were held liable for his death as not the first time they ensued "police chases" for minor violations.

He was a graduate of Springfield HS and often told of how he grew up in an old farmhouse next to the middle school (now HS) on Rt 170. The old farmhouse no longer there per 1983.

9/1/2014 - additional information this day from his sister - in law Amy (Phillips) Lindquist.
.
It was indeed a VW truck that he was driving that day.
The chase didn't actually start of 224 but did go on it.
Their home was on S Raccoon Rd in Canfield, not Leffingwell Rd.
The home was formerly owned by the Kyle family. Susan and Richard bought it from them and then he began the restorations.
His daughter Tammy was left in a temporary coma for 9mos. She currently lives with her family now in South Carolina. She still does not walk.
I have never heard Richard refer to the RR as the Chessie system, although that would be technically correct. It was the "B n O" for Richard.
Thank you for posting this memorial. I loved my brother in law very much and it is difficult to find any information about him.
