Henry R. Snipes Dies In Columbia


The body of Henry Rufus Snipes, 65, of Mullins who died in a Columbia hospital last night, will be brought here today from Columbia and will remain at the Oalla Funeral home until funeral arrangements are made.

Mr. Snipes is survived by the following children: Mrs. T. P. Summerford and Charles Rose Snipes of Florence; Mrs. E. H. Humphries of Greenville; D. C. Snipes of Charleston; Hazel Snipes of Raleigh, N. C.

The following brothers and sisters also survive: A. G. Snipes of Florence; Ben Snipes, Pressly Snipes, and Mrs. Rena Smith of Mullins.

H. R. Snipes Is Laid to Rest


Following impressive services at Oalla's Funeral Home yesterday morning, the body of H. R. Snipes was laid to rest in New Life Cemetery at Marion.

The services were conducted by Dr. J. H. Dunner, pastor of Central Methodist church. A large number of friends attended the last rites of this popular citizen.

Mr. Snipes was a native of Mullins but he had lived here for a number of years as an employee of the A.C.L.

Simple services were held at the grave in Marion, the floral offerings being unusually plentiful and beautiful.

Mr. Snipes died Thursday afternoon after a long illness. He is survived by the following children: Mrs. T. P. Summerford and Charles Rose Snipes of Florence, Mrs. E. A. Humphries of Greenville, D. C. Snipes of Charleston, Mrs. Russell Taylor of Washington, D. C. The following sisters and brothers also survive: Mrs. Rena Smith of Mullins, A. O. Snipes of Florence, Ben Snipes of Montgomery, Ala., Pressley Snipes of Cairo, Ga.

Pall bearers for the funeral were M. A. Fields, C. K. Summerford, A. L. Mayes, C. C. Tyner, B. P. Taylor, G. V. Thorne.
