"Kate" or "Katie" as she was called in Concord, Nebraska, married Allen Albert Nichols on July 25, 1906 in Wayne County, Nebraska. They were the parents of fourteen children, all born in their home in Concord, in a span of 27 years. After "CAP" died, she moved to California where most of her children lived. She married John Garrison on September 6, 1951.
Katherine Zais Nichols had five sons and a son-in-law in the military during World War II. Richard, Merle, Archie, and Harold were in the Navy. Walter was in the Army. Helen's husband, Albert Lanphear, was in the Army.

Mrs. Katherine E. Garrison, 65, of 17630 S. Lakewood, Blvd, died Friday in her home. A native of Sidney, Neb., she came to this community in 1942. Surviving are her husband, John H. Garrison; daughters, Mrs. Rachael Boelter of Lakewood, Mrs. Louise Lenninger, Mrs. Mary McElwain of Long Beach, Mrs. Lawrence Magner, and Mrs. Helen Lanphear of Bellflower; sons, Arthur, Dale, Richard, Merle, Walter, Archie and Lt. Harold Nichols. Service will be today at 2 p.m. in the White Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Robert A. Burns officiating. Interment will be in Melrose Abbey Memorial Park, Orange.
