Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Concordia Lutheran Church for A. A. Nichols who passed away August 21 at his home in Concord, following a stroke. Rev. W. T. Chell, pastor of the church, had charge of the services. Miss Ruby Fredrickson sang "The Old Rugged Cross."
Allen Nichols was born Sept. 2, 1871 near Andover, Illinois, and when yet a small child moved with his parents to a farm near Ashland, Nebraska. Later the family moved to Dixon County where they have since resided.
He was married to Miss Katie Zais in 1906 and to this union were born 14 children, 12 of whom with the widow survive. The children are: Arthur and Rachel (Mrs. Chas. Boelter) of Oregon; Richard and Walter in California; Dale, of Collinsville, Illinois; Louise (Mrs. Albert Lenninger), of Sioux City; Helen (Mrs. Albert Lanphear) of Wynot; Mary, Leona, Merle, Archie and Harold. There are 6 grandchildren, and two sisters in Oregon.
The children in Oregon and California were unable to come.
Mr. Nichols was a carpenter by trade and was widely known over this section of the state.
