OCEANA - Robert L. Perry, 81, of Toney Fork, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness.
Born Feb. 8, 1920, in Wilburn, he was the son of the late James Wilson Perry and Curtle May Smith. He was raised by James Wilburn Osborne.
Mr. Perry was baptized at Toneda Baptist Church and was a resident of Wyoming County.
He was a disabled coal miner with approximately 25 years of service in the Kopperston and Lynco mines. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Perry; a brother; and a sister.
Survivors include a son, Robert G. Perry and his wife, Elizabeth, of Washington, D.C.; a daughter, Sandra Williams of Cross Lanes; a sister, Dorothy Osborne of Matheny; a grandson, James Todd Stewart and his wife, Rachel, of Lexington, Ky.; and two great-grandchildren, Nathan and Erica Stewart, both of Lexington.
Service will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Toneda Baptist Church, Toney Fork, with the Rev. Ron Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Walker Family Cemetery, Toney Fork.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the church and one hour before service Sunday at the church. Family will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements by Evans Funeral Home, Oceana.
