Earl Taft Miller of Wilmington, NC died Thursday, June 8, 2000, in New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was born August 18, 1938 in Avon, NC the son of the late William Taft and Irene Scarbough Miller. Mr. Miller was brought to Wilmington in 1968 and was stationed on the US Coast Guard Cutter McCulloch and retired April 1, 1978 after twenty years of service in the US Coast Guard. He was stationed in many places, but returned to Wilmington to make his home where he worked for the State of North Carolina as Manager of the Fort Fisher Ferry until April 30, 2000. He was a dedicated family man and loved the waters of North Carolina and spent much of his time there. Surviving are his wife of thirty-one years, Thelma Harker Miller of the home; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Miller and husband Billy of Tallahassee, FL; stepsons, Steve Faulk and wife Judy, Larry Faulk and wife Phyllis, Terry Faulk and fiancee Lisa, all of Wilmington; brothers William Miller and wife Doris of Middletown, DE, Floyd Miller and wife Lena of Roland, NC, Elton Miller and wife Frances of New Port Richey, FL; grandchildren, Lisa, Julie, Jill, Eric, Ashley, Kayla, Christopher, Brandon, and Emilie; great-grandchildren, Haley and Kameron. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday June 10, 2000 in Andrews Mortuary, Valley Chapel by Rev. Eugene Ridley. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday in Andrews Mortuary, Valley Chapel
