Mrs. Nellie Mitchell Arthur of Coleman Falls died Wednesday, Jan. 29, in Lynchburg General Hospital at the age of 78 after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Lewis Conway Arthur. She was born in Bedford County, the daughter of the late James Mitchell and Mrs. Elizabeth Plumb Mitchell. She was a member of Cove United Methodist Church at Coleman Falls. She is survived by three sons, Gordon M. Arthur of San Angelo, Tex., L. Ben Arthur of Coleman Falls and Carey L. Arthur of Lynchburg; two daughters, Mrs. Glenmore Feagans of Big Island and Mrs. David L. Jones of Courtland; one sister, Mrs. Cornelia Knight of Lynchburg; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Friday, Jan. 31, in Whitten Park Avenue Chapel in Lynchburg. Burial was in Boonsboro Cemetery. The family suggests that those wishing to make memorials consider their favorite charity.
