Horton, Kansas--Mrs. Emelie C. Winterscheidt, 61, died Sunday at a Horton hospital. She had resided here many years.
Survivors include seven daughters, Mrs. Bernadette Orth, Andale, Kansas, Mrs. Clarissa Cyphert and Miss Catherine Winterscheidt, both of Salina, Kansas, Sister Mary Winterscheidt, San Francisco, Sister Patricia Winterscheidt and Sister Teressa Winterscheidt, both of Port Chester, New York, and Sister Bertha Winterscheidt, Tampa, Florida; three sons, the Rev. Leo Winterscheidt, Cedar Lake, Indiana, Francis Winterscheidt, Cushing, Oklahoma, and John Winterscheidt, Salina; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Christman, Seneca, Kansas, and Mrs. Louise Kasten, Corvallis, Oregon; two brothers, Lawrence Bindel, Atchison, Kansas [Aloysius Bindel, Atchison omitted] and 11 grandchildren.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Leo's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Vincent Kongs officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Mercier, Kansas. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Chaney mortuary.

The Atchison Globe, 10 Sep 1962 includes: "Mrs. Emelie Winterscheidt, 61, died suddenly Sep. 2, 1962 at the Horton hospital She was born Nov. 21, 1900 at Muenster, Texas, daughter of John P. and Elizabeth Bindel. While still a little girl, the family moved to Fidelity where they became engaged in farming. She was married to Herbert J. Winterscheidt on Jan. 8, 1918, in St. Augustine's church, Fidelity, by Rev. Joseph A. Washinger. They lived on a farm near Mercier until 1936 when they moved to Horton. She has been employed by the Horton Garment Company since 1944. .."
