Sarah Elizabeth "Bettie" Tyer was the founder of the Hephzibah Children's Home (now Hephzibah Ministries, Macon, GA) in 1900 in the Tyler home (built in 1833), near Bolingbroke (Monroe Co.), GA. A baby girl was left on the door step which gave Miss Bettie the inspiration to establish the orpanage. The Hephzibah Children's Home is now located on Zebulon Rd., nr. Macon (Bibb Co.), GA. The Tyler home has been relocated to this location.

Along with Bettie's sister, Mary Ann "Mollie" founded Hephzibah Orphanage (now Hephzibah Ministries, Macon, GA) at their farm house in Monroe county. Later moved to a little house on 600 acres on Pea Ridge Rd Macon. In 1922 they sold it.
