She was a member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, Gulfport, where she served as an usher. ''Sugar'' as she was affectionately called, retired with 26 years of service from Keesler A. F. B., serving as Shift Supervisor most of those years. She enjoyed being a member of the VFW Post 2539, Ladies Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James C. and Janie B. Hall; one son, John B. Hall; two sisters, Phalby Hamilton and Evangeline Davis and one sister-in-law, Mary E. Hall. Those to cherish her memory, a loving husband, Addison Blackmon, Jr.; one sister, Nina Seairs of Washington, DC; three brothers, James (Maude), Elliott (Thelma) and Lemuel (Ann) Hall all of Chicago, IL; and John Hall of Chesapeake, VA; eight children, James Barnes of Chicago, Floyd Z. (Susan) Barnes of San Antonio, Samantha J. Peterson of Gulfport, Ida M. (A.D.) Lee of Chicago, Vonnise (Moses) Cunningham of Binghamton, NY, Onnise Walker of San Antonio, TX, Carolyn (Jessie) Hand of Hattiesburg and Lemuel Anderson of Chicago; thirty grandchildren, forty-five great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren, representing five generations. Three special daughters-in-law, Annie L. Moore, Jacqueline Barnes and Ruth Paras. Special recognition to William E. Barnes (Morena Valley, CA) whom she helped raise. "Sugar Mama" was special to an adopted daughter Jo Ann (Ike) Williams. Several god children Glenda Collins, Henry and Theresa Winn and a host of nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts and friends, who are inspired to look forward with courage to a brighter tomorrow.
Visitation will be today from 11-1 p.m. from Mount Bethel Baptist Church, Gulfport, with services at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Biloxi National Cemetery.
