James was born at Broad River near Mt.Tabor, Union Dist.SC

James Right Black was a son of Amos Black and Lucy (Foster) Black.

James was four when his family immigrated to Madison Co., TN, where he resided with his family until 1853 when they moved to Hardeman Co., TN. In Jan., 1858 James Right and family moved to a place he had bought about two and a half miles southwest of Toone.

James married Mary Angeline Gibson on 1 October, 1857.

James was a farmer.

2. George Amos BLACK, b. 12-Nov-1860, d. 19-Jun-1938, buried in Rainey Cemetery, Toone, Hardeman Co., TN. He married Rebecca Priscilla PIRTLE, 10-Jan-1889, b. 1865, d. 1949, buried in Rainey Cemetery, Toone, Hardeman Co., TN.

3. Honora Jane BLACK, b. 7-Mar-1863, d. 4-Nov-1935. She married (1) James R. COVEY, 21-Dec-1886. She married (2) Dr. COOK

4. James Hardy BLACK b. 13-Jan-1865.

5. Monroe Livingston BLACK b. 29-Oct-1866.

6. Margaret Lee BLACK, b. 12-Sep-1868, d. 1-Jul-1956. She married Charles J. BECKER, M.D., 3-Aug-1910.
