Charles Richard (Charlie) Augustine, 42, of 1540 East Walnut Street. for the last 22 years a pipe-fitter, at the Wabash roundhouse, died in the Wabash hospital at 7:30 p.m. yesterday after an illness of three months form Bright's disease.
He was born in Decatur, Feb. 7, 1903, a son of the late William and Mary Kitcha Augustine, and was educated in St. John's Lutheran parochial school.
On Jan. 17, 1927, Mr. Augustine married Gertrude Skoda in Springfield.
He leaves his wife and two sons, Edward and Billy; four brothers Fred (Speedy), Edward (Mush), Henry (Pete) and Max of Decatur; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Kalins and Mrs. Bertha Schlesier of Decatur; and Mrs. Amelia Royse of Alton.
He was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church and belonged to the local Sheet Metal Worker's Union.
The body was taken to the Moran and Son's funeral home. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
