EDWARD AUGUSTINE DIES
Rites Wednesday for Former Semi-Professional Ballplayer
Funeral services for Edward (Mush) Augustine, 69, of 1368 N. Morgan St., will be in St. John's Lutheran Church at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
The body will be taken to Glendale, Calif., for burial.
Mr. Augustine died at 1:25 p.m. yesterday at home after a six month illness.
He was formerly a sheet metal worker at the Faries Mfg. Co., and was a material handler at the Signal Depot.
Mr. Augustine was a former semi-professional baseball player and played with the Decatur Come Across team, the Decatur Blues, the Maroa Commercial Club, and for two years each at Argenta and Tuscola.
He also played Commercial League baseball for about six years with the Decatur Greys, the Staley Pros and the Decatur Mavericks.
He was a veteran of World War 1 and attended St. John's Lutheran Church.
He was born in Decatur, April 18, 1892, a son of William and Mary Kitza Augustine.
Mr. Augustine married Eleanor M. Keyl April 7, 1923 in Decatur.
