A first grade teacher at Point Beach Elementary School, Milford, CT in fall, 1962. A native of Waterbury, CT, Miss Mary Ann Cox resided at 55 Greer Street, Milford for 12 years. She was a 1956 graduate of Lauralton Hall High School in Milford CT and from the University of Connecticut in 1960. Miss Cox was a member of the Catholic Graduates Club of New Haven, the New Haven Ski Club, the Milford Educational Association, and the Connecticut Education Association. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. John Cox. Her brother was John T. Cox. Her maternal grandmother was Mrs. Anna Luddy of Waterbury, CT. Her paternal grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cox of Bridgeport, CT. Miss Cox was killed Sunday, Nov 4, 1962 at age 23 in an automobile collision while traveling in a small foreign car on Route 34 near the Seymour town line in Derby, CT while accompanied with her date, Stuart Buffin, a stock broker, of 81 Third Street, West Haven, CT. Miss Cox died at 3:40 am. Miss Cox was 23, Mr. Buffin was 29. The driver of the other car, William Laird, age 21 of 51 Third Street, Bridgeport, suffered minor facial lacerations. [I was a student in Miss Cox's class at Point Beach Elementary School at the time of her death.]
