Hildegarde M. Hertel (Oct. 2, 1901 – June 25, 1993).
SOUTH BEND – Hildegarde Marie Hertel, 91, of St. Paul's Health-care Center, formerly of Marine Street, died at 8:30 p.m. Friday in the nursing home. Mrs. Hertel retired from Providence Hospital, Oakland, Calif., in 1979, as a nurse after 54 years of service and had been employed at Moulder Motor Co. of South Bend. She was born Oct. 2, 1901, in Volo, Ill., and moved to the area in 1909. In 1927, she moved to Oakland and returned to South Bend in 1979. She is survived by four sisters, Angela J. Danch of South Bend, Sister Claire Marie Hertel, CSC of Peoria, Ill., and Sister John Michael CSC, and Sister M. Ivan Hertel, CSC, both of South Bend; and a brother, Norbert Hertel of Portland, Ore. She was a member of Cathedral of St. Matthew, the Rosary Society, First Friday Club, Harvest House and Ladies of Charity, all of the church. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, Fort Wayne.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the church. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday in Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, wehre a rosary will be said at 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
