Opal Juanita Fox Blankenship, age 83, of the Prices Creek Community, went home to be with the Lord on May 3rd, 2010 at Brookside Rehabilitation & Care with her loved ones by her side.
She was the daughter of the late John and Zilla Arrowood Fox of Prices Creek and the wife of the late Joe Blankenship, who passed away February 4, 1998. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Gene Fox and two sisters: Nola Gibson and Delovia Fox. Opal was a wonderful homemaker plus she retired from Glen Raven Mills of Burnsville. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.
Surviving are three daughters: Cathy Austin and husband, Burl, Adalene Higgins and husband, Ray, and Ruthie Beaver, all of Burnsville; brothers: Farris Fox and wife, Jenny, of Burnsville, J.G. Fox and wife, Inez, of Leicester and Doyle Fox and wife, Judy, of Woodfin; five grandchildren: Debbie Hensley, John Austin, Travis Brown, Amy Autrey and Chris Brown, all of Burnsville; nine great grandchildren: two step-grandchildren and one great, great-grandson.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010 in Prices Creek Union Church with the Revs. Rick Bennett and Jerry Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in the Blankenship-Arrowood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Yancey Funeral Service.
Flowers are gladly accepted, or memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Yancey County, 856 Georges Fork Rd., Burnsville, NC 28714.
