Thomas S. "Tom" Schreck, 65, of Lancaster died in his home on Sunday, May 02, 2010 after a long illness.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Charles P. and Anna Mary (Scheuchenzuber) Schreck.

Tom proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1965 - 1968.

He taught Sixth Grade in Penbrook Elementary School in the Central Dauphin School District, Hamilton Elementary School in the School District of Lancaster, White Oak Elementary School in the Manheim Central School District, Parents Cooperative School in Taif, Saudi Arabia, and Manheim Township Middle School before he became Assistant Principal of Pequea Valley Middle School. He retired in 2001 from Donegal Middle School.

Tom was a devout Catholic and a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Lancaster.

He enjoyed reading, coaching, playing chess, playing the accordion, traveling, and cheering for his football teams: Notre Dame and the Dallas Cowboys.

Tom will be remembered for his intelligence, sense of humor, humility, and positive outlook on life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Charles P. Schreck, Jr.

Tom is survived by his wife of thirty-six years: Barbara (Butt) Schreck; his sons: David T. (Lori Siegrist) Schreck of Holtwood, John S. Schreck of Philadelphia, and Matthew A. Schreck at home; and, his sisters: Jean Roda Acklin of Lancaster, Mary Louise (E. Roy) McCauley of Harrisburg, Nancy (John P.) Amico of Lancaster, and Martha (Paul) Hopkins of Claremore, Oklahoma.

There will be a Viewing from 07:00 - 09:00 PM on Wednesday, May 05, 2010 in Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King Street, Lancaster. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 08:30 PM.

There will be a second Viewing from 10:30 - 11:30 AM on Thursday, May 06, 2010 in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 558 W. Walnut Street, Lancaster. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:30 AM with Rev. Michael Messner as Celebrant.

Interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 02:30 PM.
