SAINTLY WOMAN GOES TO REWARD
--
MRS. R. G. CHAFFIN SUCCUMBS AT HER HOME NEAR PROSPECT CHURCH FOLLOWING AN EXTENDED ILLNESS.
--
The entire community of northwest Jasper County was saddened by the death of Mrs. R. G. Chaffin, who passed away at the home about one-thirty o'clock April 25th, following an illness of about twenty months. The immediate cause of her death was a stroke of paralysis.

In summing up the life of Mrs. Chaffin we could say nothing better than to state that she was a saintly woman, whose many years were spent in behalf of loved ones and neighbors and the community in which she lived. She was in her seventy-sixth year of age at the time of her death.

Her husband, Mr. R. G. Chaffin, preceded her to the grave in January, 1926. She and her companion were pillars of uprightness in their community and those who knew them were accustomed to lean upon them in matters, both civic and religious, throughout a long number of well-filled years. For both of them were consecrated Christians and labored faithfully in the Master's Vineyard, doing diligently what their hands found to do.

Mrs. Chaffin, therefore, was beloved by all who knew her. Her traits of character were splendid and the influence she wielded from year to year was for the betterment of everything. She was devoted to her children to whom she leaves, as did their father, a rich heritage of honesty, active service and deeds of love. and consideration.

She was a member of Prospect Methodist Church, having joined it in early girlhood, where she labored with a glad and abiding faith almost all of her life.

The funeral services were conducted from the home April 26th, Rev. O. L. Kelley, of Shady Dale, pastor of Prospect church, officiating, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Chaffin cemetery nearby.

R. Jordan & Bro., funeral directors, of Monticello, were in charge. Surviving Mrs. Chaffin are the following children: Mrs. W. E. Evans and Mr. E. L. Chaffin, Monticello Route No. 1; Mrs. B. L. Kitchens, of Covington; Mr. T. H. Chaffin, Mr. L. A. Chaffin, Mr. Roy Chaffin and Mr. Ray Chaffin of Atlanta.
