PROMINENT CITIZEN OF JASPER COUNTY PASSES AT FAMILY RESIDENCE AT MECHANICSVILLE SUNDAY. FUNERAL MONDAY.

The death of Mr. Robert G. Chaffin, of Mechanicsville, which occurred Sunday, January 10th., was the occasion of much regret to his many relatives, friends and neighbors.
Active in religious work. -- Mr. Chaffin was one of the country's most upright and prominent citizens and very active in church work in the community for many years. He was a member of the Methodist Church at Prospect and also served as Sunday School Superintendent at the Bethlehem Baptist Church for quite a while. He was born March 7, 1854. The funeral services was held from the residence Monday, January 11th. Rev J. B. Gresham of the Shady Dale, officiated. A large number of relatives and friends were in attendance. The body was laid to rest in the Chaffin burying ground nearby.
The survivors. -- Mr. Chaffin is survived by his wife and seven children, Mrs. W.E. Evans, of Jasper County; Mr. Tommie Chaffin, of Atlanta; Mr. Eddie Chaffin, of Jasper County; Mr. Ray Chaffin and Roy Chaffin both of Atlanta. Four sisters, Mrs. Bettie Leverett, Mrs. J.J. Chaffin, Mrs. Ada Spears, Mrs. Glyn Ellis of Jasper County, and two brothers, Mr H.L. Chaffin of Canton Ga., and Mr. T.J. Chaffin, of Jasper County, and several grandchildren.
The funeral was in charge of Reuben Jordan & Bro., undertakers, of Monticello.
