MANSFIELD, Ga., Aug. 30. -- In a typical old country home just south of Mansfield, Mr. T. P. Chafin celebrated his 84th year on the 3d of August. Mr. Chafin is a splendid example of the "simple life," having stuck to the place of his birth and the habits of his ancestors, of which he is extremely proud. He attributes his longevity and good health to his temperate habits and his never using any medicines, he claiming on this birthday that he could "crack his heels" more times than any of his grandchildren or his great-great-grandchildren, of which he has a number. Mr. Chafin has accumulated his share of this world's goods and says he does not care to be wealthy, not believing that millions can be made honestly.
