Mrs. Julia R. Law
Timmonsville -- Mrs. Julia (Miss Julie) Ragsdale Law, approximately 90, died Friday night after an extended illness.
She was the widow of former Mayor William Crawford Law.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday in Layton-Perry Funderal Home by Rev. J. V. Murray and Rev. J. Kick Lawton. Burial will be in Byrd Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be J. Banks Scarborough, John G. Rose Sr., Frances Pepper, F. A. Greene, Emil T. Cannon, E. T. (Pat) Charles, Jack Truluck, G. Keith McLeod and Mayor T. Carroll Player.
Mrs. Law was born and lived her entire life in the family residence at 106 Main St. The home, a Timmonsville landmark, and its garden formerly occupied a city block. It was the first home built in Timmonsville, having been constructed in 1850 by the late Rev. J. Morgan Timmons, founder of the town.
During her lifetime, Mrs. Law was a socialite and avid entertainer. She was at one time widely know in Washington circles, and was an intimate of the late President Woodrow Wilson.
She was a member of the Timmonsville Methodist Church and the United Daughters of Confederacy.
Mrs. Law was a daughter of the late Capt. L. R. Ragsdale, of the army of the Confederate States of America, and Ellen Adelaide Byrd Ragsdale. She was sister of the late Congressman James Willard Ragsdale of Florence.
During her life, Mrs. Law followed closely the history of Timmonsville and the family home on downtown main street is virtually a museum of an century and a half of the town's existence.
She is survived by two nephews, W. W. ROLLINS and GUSSIE ROLLINS, both of San Antonio, Tex.; and nieces. Mrs. MARIE RAGSDALE SHAW of Larchmont, N.Y. and Mrs. ELLEN ROLLINS GLAZE of San Antonio, Tex., and Miss MARGARITE RAGSDALE of Columbia; and four grand nephews.

* Note by Nancy Agnew Peché:
Julia Ragsdale's sister Elizabeth (Lizzie) Ragsdale married ca 1908 William C. Law. Elizabeth died 09 Apr 1941. Sometime after the death of Elizabeth, William C. Law married his sister-in-law Julia Traxler Ragsdale, at least that's what I'm gathering from the above obituary of Julia Ragsdale Law.
