Bernard D. Sheldon, 85, Elk River, Minn., a former Rice Lake-Cameron resident, died Thursday, Oct. 26, at Fairview Regional North Hospital, Princeton, Minn.

He was born March 6, 1915, to Howard and Florence (Kritch) Sheldon at Rice Lake, Wis., where he grew up and attended school. He later moved to Cameron with his parents where he finished his education. He worked as a farmhand until his marriage to Agnes Lee June 18, 1938, at Center City, Minn.

They farmed in the Rice Lake area before moving to Lakeville, Minn., and then to Elroy, Wis., where they continued to farm. They later returned to Rice Lake where he farmed and developed an interest in woodworking and carpentry. He quit farming in 1962 and moved to Poskin where he started his own business, Poskin Wood Works, which he operated for 26 years. He became semi-retired in 1988. He and his wife moved to Elk River, Minn., in 1989 to be near their daughters.

Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Janet Ellis of Princeton, Minn., and Phyllis (John) Popko of Edina, Minn,; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Eunice Harriman of Brookville, Fla. and Angeline Thompson of Rice Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Donald and Ralph Sheldon.

Services Monday, Oct. 30, from the Faith Lutheran Church in Cameron, Rev. Paul Tobiason officiating with burial at Nora Cemetery, Rice Lake.

The Jarocki Funeral Home and Cremation Service handled the arrangements.
