Livingston Lavert Lewis enlisted in 1861 as a private in a Missouri regiment of infantry with the C.S.A. He served under Colonel Low and was honorably discharged upon completion of the term for which he enlisted.

There is no marker on Livingston Lavert's grave. However, there is a funeral card showing he was buried in the Coleman Cemetery. Flora Belle Lewis Baker's notes indicate that Livingston Lavert was buried at the foot of his brother's (Grant Allen Lewis) grave.
