Clarence Winfred Corey was the son of George E. and Sarah J. (McDowell) Corey. He was born and raised in the Glen Falls and Clifton Park areas of NY. He later raised his family in Gloversville. Clarence was a hard working man. He worked for the New York Central Railroad, F.J. & G Bus Company he even owned and operated a little store off the porch of his home. He retired in 1946 and moved west to Arizona for health reasons. He resided in Phoenix, Oregon and had a seasonal home in Oceanside, California. He enjoyed hunting and fishing some of his best trips were to catch Yellow Tail Tuna on trips to Mexico. His grandsons will always remember his ability to hunt squirrel with nothing more than a long sharpened stick. Later in life he enjoyed gardening and helping out the local boy scout troops where he lived in Oregon. His horticultural skills were remarkable eventually being recognized by the local college near his home for his beautiful rose garden and hybridization techniques he used in creating them and other plants.

Clarence was a veteran of World War I, serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Nebraska and USS Downes. He was a member of the VFW post at Grant's Pass, Oregon.

Clarence married three times, his first wife was Ruth May Snyder, she predeceased him in 1931, his second wife was Catherine Goran, they were divorced and he was survived his third wife Nettie (Oman) Green. Clarence was the father of seven children, four sons and three daughters: Clifford, Donald, Richard & Ronald Corey, Betty Jane Naish, Lois Tapp and Dorothy Darneille. He was also survived by his stepson Leslie Green, brother Walter Corey and sister Alice Johnston, as well as twenty grandchildren.

His ashes were buried in the family plot at the Johnstown Cemetery in Johnstown, Fulton Co., New York.
