Longtime Delta resident Herbert Ellsworth Kroschel passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved family on Monday, March 22, 2010, at Willow Tree Care Center in Delta. He was 101 years of age.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Friday, March 26, 2010, at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta.

A funeral service honoring Herbert's life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 26, 2010, at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta with Pastor Seth Coridan presiding. Burial will follow at Olathe Cemetery.

Herbert Ellsworth Kroschel was born to August and Albertina (Busse) Kroschel on March 27, 1908 in the town of Kroschel, Minnesota. He spent his childhood and attended schools in the San Luis Valley.

On August 25, 1939, Herbert married Florence Bauer in Salida, Colorado. Herbert and Florence were blessed with over 40 years of marriage. Florence passed away on January 19, 1980.

Herbert, a carpenter by trade, enjoyed spending time outdoors. He loved his family, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his large circle of friends. Herbert also enjoyed hiking, playing his accordion and watching the Lawrence Welk Show. He will be greatly missed by those who had the privilege to love and know him. Herbert was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Herbert is survived by three sons: Herbert Ellsworth Kroschel Jr. and wife Leanna of Walla Walla, Wash., Wesley Truman Kroschel and wife Ruthie of Del Norte, Colo., Ronald Elton Kroschel and wife Marsha of Kingman, Ariz.; one step-son, Shirley William "Bill" Fletcher and wife Connie of Kingman, Ariz.; one daughter, Linda Louise Andrews and husband Garry of Delta, Colo.; daughter-in-law, Jean Kroschel of Delta, Colo.; and two sisters, May Rush of Hamilton, Mont., and Ruth Minor of Del Norte, Colo.. Herbert is further survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Herbert was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Kroschel; two sons; Gary Kroschel and Carl Fletcher; three daughters; Flossie, Dixie and Wanda Fletcher; one grandson; Jon Kroschel four brothers; Elton, Ruthven, Edwin and Eugene; and five sisters; Albertina Pennington, Augusta Pennington, Louise Witsett, Mildred Pearson and Verda Razor.
